I get excited for Big Daddy Weave songs because I got to spend some time with Mike Weaver a few years ago (2011-2012) and he’s such a genuinely good guy.
A strong opener, this one done right can really get people excited, declaring the majesty of God as we enter a service. Let’s dig in.
We don’t use this one often, but every once in a while, there’s a message that really focuses on the importance of Scripture, so having a song that asks the Holy Spirit to speak to us through the inerrant Word of God is a beautiful accent from time to time.
An old Rita Springer classic, what an awesome reminder that Heaven is the goal and Christ is the prize. That’s why I use it so often: it’s a timeless message.
This song makes me happy — it’s an example of a time I heard a song, liked it, looked up a chord chart and powered through doing it for a couple of months, then heard the original again and though “oh wow, I’ve taken this in a different direction…”
For that reason, I’m not going to include a link to the original. Not that I’m better than Jon Foreman in any way, but the recordings below are how we’ll do the song live in service: a bit faster, a bit brighter, and a bit more… desperate.
A beautiful song from Jason Upton, this one has done very well over the years both at LIFT Student Ministries and at Light of the World. This song speaks, always.
